|“Delegates are welcome to this coveted collaborative conference on clean energy,
at a rare convergence of two societies, far North and South,
to deliberate on a common concern for promoting low carbon civilization”.
Professor N. N. Maldar
Reducing emissions of CO2 is a global priority to save the planet and its inhabitants from the ecological catastrophe. The major threat to the planet comes from the burning of fossil fuel to sustain the lifestyles of the developed and also the developing world. The popular rationale is that the fossil fuels provide cheaper energy to promote development which needs rethinking. There is a growing concern all over the world to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and bring in civilizational transition towards clean and renewable energies. This is imminent to avert the crisis of environment that would threaten the very existence of human kind as a species. Under the present circumstances of climate change and global warming, energy transition from fossil fuel to renewables is no more a choice but the only option.
This conference is aimed at academics, administrators, policy makers, representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations, students and all those interested in futures research.
The focal objectives of the conference is to advocate production, distribution and consumption of renewable energy among the stakeholders; to promote networking, exchange of ideas and information, success stories about renewables; to facilitate collaborations in renewables sector as individuals and institutions across regions; and to influence planners, and policymakers and other stakeholders on the importance of renewables for low carbon civilization.
